Plan and prepare
Dogs are not permitted in the area due to the threat they pose to kiwi.
Do not cross during or after heavy rain as the creek becomes swift and deep. Either wait for waters to subside, return the way you came or go to Lane Cove via boat on the Whangaroa Harbour. Launch at either Totara North or Whangaroa ramps.
Some walks around Whangaroa cross farmland. Please avoid disturbing livestock and use a stile to cross fences where these are provided.
If you intend staying at Lane Cove Hut, you need to bring a portable stove, food and drink, sleeping bag and cooking utensils. Bookings essential.
